How does this medication work? What will it do for me?

Levocabastine nasal spray belongs to the family of medications called antihistamines. It is used to treat symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis such as sneezing, itchy nose, and runny nose.

Levocabastine works by blocking the body's response to allergens (substances that a person may be allergic to). Levocabastine nasal spray starts to work within 10 minutes of spraying the nose.

To use the spray:

  • Tilt your head slightly forward.
  • Keep one nostril tightly closed and insert the nozzle into the other nostril.
  • Spray twice, while breathing in through the same nostril.
  • Repeat for the other nostril.

Read the package insert and check with your doctor or pharmacist to ensure that you are using the medication correctly.

  • stop taking one of the medications,
  • change one of the medications to another,
  • change how you are taking one or both of the medications, or
  • leave everything as is.

An interaction between two medications does not always mean that you must stop taking one of them. In many cases, interactions are intended or are managed by close monitoring. Speak to your doctor about how any drug interactions are being managed or should be managed.
